HAY LAB was officially founded in October 2023 and is headquartered in Hong Kong — but the work began long before the name. When the studio took shape, it already carried several projects with it, made by a young, energetic team that simply loved building things. HAY LAB 于 2023 年 10 月正式成立，总部位于香港——但我们的工作早于这个名字。工作室成形之时，已经带着多个项目一同前行，它们出自一个年轻、充满活力、单纯热爱创造的团队。

As the age of AI unfolded, we made a deliberate choice: not to rush. Many of our products have not been hastily rewrapped in AI. Instead, we want intelligence to disappear into the base experience — quiet, useful, unnoticed. A smoother keystroke. A smarter default. A calmer workflow. 随着 AI 时代的发展，我们做了一个审慎的选择：不急于求成。我们的许多产品没有被草草地重新包装上 AI。我们希望让智能消失在使用者的基础体验之中——安静、有用、不被察觉。更顺手的敲击，更聪明的默认值，更从容的工作流。

Alongside this, the studio is crafting AI of its own: vertical-domain agents, and a harness for code development. They are still in development, and a number of users are already living with early builds. Mapi

Launched in 2023, Mapi passed ten million calls in its first month and went on to serve tens of billions over its lifetime. It was scheduled to close in 2025; the developers who had built it into their own programmes loved it enough to keep it alive through 2026. It has now retired — but as the studio's first success, it remains our cornerstone, quietly encouraging us forward. Mapi 于 2023 年上线，首月调用即突破千万，此后累计调用超过数百亿次。它原定于 2025 年关闭；那些早已把它接入自己程序的开发者们足够喜爱它，让它延续到了 2026 年。如今它已退役——但作为工作室的第一个成功，它始终是我们的奠基之作，安静地鼓励我们继续向前。

We believe technology can change a life's course. 我们相信，科技可以改变一个人的命运。

The studio sits in Hong Kong, and a good part of the team works remotely from overseas. Through their help, we try — in our own small way — to support children with intellectual disabilities and families in hardship around the world, and to keep young people exploring science and technology. 工作室位于香港，但也有相当一部分成员在海外远程工作。借助他们的力量，我们以自己的方式，尽力支持全球的智力残障儿童与困难家庭，并持续支持青少年在科技方面的学习与探索。

Work Code is a direct child of that last effort. It was developed independently by a team of young people, and we have never interfered with what they make. We simply made room for them — and they built something remarkable. Work Code 正是后一项努力的孩子。它由一支青少年团队独立开发，我们对他们创造的内容从不做任何强制干涉。我们只是为他们留出了空间——而他们做出了了不起的东西。
